Technical Questions

How to calculate theoretical coverage?

It is calculated by knowing the dry residue in volume and the dry thickness in microns of the layer to be applied. The result is obtained by applying the following formula:

Example: product with 50% dry residue and 40 microns dry layer thickness:

To switch from the theoretical coverage in m²/l to the theoretical coverage in m²/kg, proceed as follows:

THEORETICAL COVERAGE PER LITER = SPECIFIC WEIGHT OF THE PRODUCT

How to calculate practical coverage?

The practical coverage depends on various factors, such as the condition of the surface, profile, method of application, in the case of high solid products, weather conditions, etc. Normally the practical coverage is calculated for metal surfaces at 70% of the theoretical one, but this figure can also drop to 40-50% in the case of medium, small or very irregular surfaces.

As for wood, plaster and concrete surfaces, it is not possible to make more or less correct assessments because there are countless other factors such as: absorption of the surface, impregnation, closure of porosities, etc.

RAL Color Groups Explained

RAL is an European color matching system which is used for defining standard colors for varnish, powder coating and plastics. It is the most popular Central European color standard used today.

We offer a lot of products where you can choose any RAL color as your desired color. Due to different production costs for various tints and shades available in RAL color chart, there are variations in price depending on the chosen color. All RAL colors are divided in these 4 groups, and each group will have a different price:

  • RAL [Soft Colors]
  • RAL [Medium Colors]
  • RAL [Deep Colors]
  • RAL [Deep Rich Colors]

When choosing colors for certain products on our website you will find these 4 options for color selection.

If you want to find out which color code belongs to which group, check out the section bellow.
